The Elk on the Trail Monument, designed by Eli Harvey, was erected on Whitcomb Summit by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in 1923. The statue stands in memory of those who lost their lives in World War I. It is estimated that 10,000 people, in some 3,000 vehicles, attended the dedication.
